The University of Iowa Marching Band pays tribute to US Veterans during halftime of the game with Purdue.
THANK YOU to all who have served in defense of this country, our values, and our families.
I am especially thankful for my grandfather, Ray, and my father, Len, for their service.

I would like to thank my father for his service to our country. He survived the frozen chosin but has never once complained. Thanks Dad.
Susan, as an old Marine, myself (1980-1986), I have to say that men like your dad always have been – and always will be – considered heros and role models for later generations of Marines. On those rare occasions when I get the chance to meet a Chosin Marine, I always consider it to be a singular honor to be in their presence. It was striving to be worthy of the legacy that they left which made me a better Marine. Tell your dad that I said, “Thank you, and Semper Fi”.
I will indeed and thank you as well!
