DEAR EVERY PERSON ON EARTH CLAIMING TO BE CHRISTIAN

DEAR EVERY PERSON ON EARTH CLAIMING TO BE CHRISTIAN:

EXACTLY WHAT PART OF MATT. 25:45 DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND?

“Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’”

The very next verse say the rest: “And these will go away into eternal punishment.”

If you claim to be Christian, and you cannot even abide the central tenet of the judgment scene before the Son of Man, what the hell good is your faith to anyone?

This, this right here, is why the world is turning away from Christianity: you’re not doing the ONE thing you were put here to do: care for the least among us.

And this, this right here, is why Americans loathe right wing Republican Christian politicians: the hypocrisy spews forth from them like projectile vomit when they appeal to the Bible to discriminate against some Americans, but then completely ignore its core teachings when it comes to actually “helping our neighbors.”

This, this is why they hate you.

  1. Well they are all washed in the blood so they don’t have to do a damn thing….I think they are in for a terrible let down

  2. You are not wrong to point out that whole law and the prophets fuse together in charity – the ideal that love of God is the love of others as ourselves. To speak in platitudes however about what Christians are not doing, and imply it being the cause of the abandonment of Christianity is simplistic and illogical. If that were in fact the reasoning, people would be renouncing left and right their American Citizenship. Furthermore, if you really thought that lack of pious adherence to the Word of God were so hateful, it seems you should screaming out in rage about no fault divorce, abortion, assisted suicide, and gay marriage. What’s that I hear? Crickets. PS. Our two term President is a Democrat.

  3. Thanks and God bless you.

  4. Actually, you’re the one who hates Christians (not all of America.) Cherry picking a verse from the Bible and using it to condemn Christians is a typical Liberal tactic. What are your doing to help the least of these? Writing a left wing hate blog from the safety of your home or office is not very courageous. Conservative Christians give more time and money than left-wing Liberals who love to spew their hate and bash anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Instead of bashing Conservative Christians, maybe you should look for common ground and see where you can work together with people who believe differently than you do to improve this world that we all live in.

  5. But… Limbaugh said… so it’s gotta be in the Bible!

  6. Individuals Christians yes, hold us accountable. As a public compulsion with tax money on a national scale? No.

    “Refugees” my foot.

  7. @Andromeda – “Furthermore, if you really thought that lack of pious adherence to the Word of God were so hateful, it seems you should screaming out in rage about no fault divorce, abortion, assisted suicide, and gay marriage. What’s that I hear? Crickets.”

That is plain ignorance. Jesus didn’t preach about most of those issues. The abortion issue is particular rife with ignorance. Countries that ban abortions on average have higher rates of abortion, because only liberal policies have been shown to be effective toward decreasing unwanted pregnancies.

@Delbert – “Actually, you’re the one who hates Christians (not all of America.) Cherry picking a verse from the Bible and using it to condemn Christians is a typical Liberal tactic. What are your doing to help the least of these?”

How dare anyone expect Christians to follow the teachings of Jesus, instead of being self-righteous worthless hypocrites! That is just like liberals to promote the teachings of Jesus. As for money, I might point that the data only shows that Christians give more money to their own churches and most of that money doesn’t go to charity. A good common ground for all Americans might be to avoid hypocrisy and then we can use that as a starting point in working toward a genuinely moral society.

  8. BRAVO!!!

  9. First, I love the condescending picture at the top. Second, saying people aren’t Christians because they are concerned about possible terrorists among the refugees is like my spouse saying they don’t love me because I don’t do the dishes and take out the trash. It’s a hateful guilt trip, which by the way is no more Christian than not helping those in need. It’s because of people who make absolutes (on both sides of any argument) that this country is divided against each other.

  10. For people like Delbert, and I suppose he is Christian, but for them the teaching of Jesus to follow are, to use his words, “cherry picked”. It’s almost as if Jesus is to Christianity as what Ronald McDonald is to McDonalds.

  11. I hope you have not censored my original comment, especially since it was respectful and non-inflammatory. Somehow, I really thought you might be above that…

In any case, I will repeat my warm wishes to you and your family for a Happy Thanksgiving. Shalom.

  12. Blogging Disciple,

Please don’t do the whole passive-aggressive shame thing: (“Somehow, I really thought you might be above that…”)

Your comment was filtered as spam because it contained multiple references to a website that promotes an individual whose principal story (that of a former terrorist who converted to Christianity, and now spends his time raising money and making Christian converts posing as a ‘former terrorist’ turned Christian) is spurious at best, and whose message is one of fear and rank stereotype.
